What is the Experience?

Take in Cape Reinga via 90 Mile Beach. Thunder down the awesome 90 Mile Beach, navigate the quicksand stream, ride the dunes, visit Puketi Kauri Forest or take a swim. There are fantastic photo opportunities, lots of action and stunning scenery. It’s not called the top of New Zealand for nothing!

Our coach will collect you from your accommodation in the local area and you will depart Paihia for Cape Reinga. Along the way you will stop at a Kauri Forest and be over-awed by the mighty Kauri trees. You will be driven by one of our legendary local drivers who will provide entertainment and information about the local area.

We make a brief stop at a bakery for you to grab yourself some morning tea and lunch for later in the day. At Cape Reinga you will have a chance to walk to the Lighthouse, view the spectacular scenery and see where the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea meet. We stop at Tapotupotu Bay, this provides a chance to eat your lunch, to check out the surf, play a game of touch rugby or just relax. You also have the opportunity to swim in both the Tasman and the Pacific Oceans on the same day (weather permitting).

Our next stop is to conquer the giant sand dunes. Your driver for the day offer instructions on how to sandboard and how fast you go is entirely up to you! We drive along the unique 90 Mile Beach for approximately one hour (depending on the tides). A stop is made for an early dinner of Fish & Chips (optional – additional cost of $5) before heading back into Paihia.

Venue:

Paihia is found in the Bay of Islands - north of Whangarei.

Session Length

We operate daily; departing from Paihia at 7.15 am and returning at 6.30 pm.

This activity is ideal for adventure travellers. Come prepared to have fun! This activity may not be suitable for young children – please enquire at time of booking.
